Petr Matoušek

Petr Matoušek (born December 19, 1949 in Teplice ) is a former Czechoslovak cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Matoušek had his first start for the Czech national team in 1969 on the Tour of Scotland (39th place). 1970 he won at the UCI Road World Championships in Leicester in the team time trial silver medal (the team went in the cast Jiří Mainuš , František Řezáč, Milan Puzrla, Petr Matoušek) in single race he crossed the line in eighth. In the same year he contested the British Milk Race , again the Tour of Scotland, and the Bohemia Tour , which he finished second. In 1971 he took part in the International Peace Tour for the first time , which he completed three times. His best result was seventh place in 1974 . In 1972 he was nominated for the Summer Olympics in Munich . There he started in the individual race and was classified as 47th. In the Olympic year he also won the Czech championship in road racing. He also demonstrated his strength in the time trial when he won the national team time trial championship three times (1975-1977) with his club Roter Stern Plzen .

At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal he was fifth in the team time trial, in the individual race he was eliminated. Matoušek won the Czech road racing championship in 1972. With the 1975 Tour of Yugoslavia , he won one of the renowned national tours for amateurs. In August of that year he won the bronze medal (with Vlastimil Moravec , Vladimír Vondráček, Petr Bucháček) at the UCI road world championships in the team time trial.
