Katia Benth

Katia Benth (born November 15, 1975 in Cayenne , French Guiana ) is a former French sprinter .

She achieved her most significant successes as a member of the French 4 x 100 meter relay . At the European Championships in Budapest in 1998 , she won the title as a starting runner together with Frédérique Bangué , Sylviane Félix and Christine Arron in a time of 42.59 s. At the 1999 World Championships in Seville , she won the silver medal in the relay. The French quartet ran a new national record in the line-up of Patricia Girard , Muriel Hurtis , Katia Benth and Christine Arron with a time of 42.06 s and only had to admit defeat to the Bahamas relay .

As a single starter Benth won at the Universiade 1997 in Catania in 200 Meters , the silver and the 100-meter sprint bronze medal and at the Universiade 1999 in Palma another silver medal over 100 meters. She also won the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Bridgetown in 1999, both over 100 and over 200 meters. She was French champion twice, in 1999 in the 100-meter run and in 2003 in the 200-meter run. In her three world championship starts over 100 or 200 meters between 1997 and 2001, she never got beyond the quarter-finals.
