Jennifer "Jenny" Montag (born February 11, 1998 in Hackenbroich ) is a German athlete . She specializes in the sprint and long jump and has her strengths especially in the 100-meter run .

Athletic career

Jennifer Montag struggled with physical problems early in her career. At first she suffered from inflamed cruciate ligaments and a chipped bone in the ball of the foot , which required an initial operation. Because of constant abdominal cramps and fluid retention, she underwent a laposcopy and had her appendix removed. After the first signs of renal insufficiency , a congenital constriction at the junction between the kidney and ureter was diagnosed on Monday . Her performance-impairing difficulties were finally resolved through two major operations.

In the winter and spring of 2017, the first successes at national level were achieved on Monday. First, she won the silver medal over the non-Olympic distance of 60 meters at the U-20 indoor championships in Sindelfingen . In May she beat the 25-year-old U20 record for the North Rhine region over her special distance of 100 meters in 11.44 seconds . At the U20 championships in Ulm , she won two more medals in both the 100 and 200 meters . After 100 meter bronze at the U23 championships in Leverkusen , she won the 4 x 100 meter relay at the U20 European championships in Grosseto with the world youth record of 43.44 seconds. In 2018 she won an important individual title for the first time at the German U23 championships over 100 meters. In 2019 she was also successful as the starting runner of the 4 x 100 meter relay at the U23 European Championships in Gävle and - also with the relay - won the silver medal in the national championships in the general class. In addition, at the beginning of the season at the IAAF World Relays it was used for the first time internationally in the adult area, with the 4 x 200 meter relay she took fifth place.

Club affiliations

Jennifer Montag started her athletic career at LAV Bayer Uerdingen Dormagen in her hometown . In November 2014 she moved to TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , where she is trained by Hans-Jörg Thomaskamp.
