The Városi Stadium ( German  Municipal Stadium ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Hungarian city of Nyíregyháza , Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in the east of the country. The sports facility is also known as the Sóstói Stadium or Sóstói Úti Stadium , after the Sóstói út street on which it is located. The football club Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC , which was promoted to the first Hungarian football league Nemzeti Bajnokság in the 2014/15 season , plays its home games here.

history

The stadium was built on earth walls and inaugurated in 1958. The venue was gradually renovated in the following years up to the 1980s . The visitor record also comes from this time. On November 1, 1980, a game against Ferencváros Budapest attracted 28,000 spectators. The city of Nyíregyháza was selected for the 1995 European Junior Athletics Championships , the competitions were held from July 27th to 30th in the city stadium.

In 2002 the venue was renovated for 550 million HUF (about 1.8 million ). It was complemented by the towering, roofed west stand. The one-story tier complies with FIFA standards and offers 3,400 seats. It also contains club offices and changing rooms. With a game between Nyíregyháza Spartacus FC and Pécsi Mecsek FC (2: 3), the redesigned stadium was reopened on October 5, 2002.

In 2009, the focus was on the aged stadium curves, among other things. The concrete of the standing bars was completely refurbished and equipped with 4,970 seats. In addition, the municipal stadium received a new sound system , the athletics facility was renewed and the pitch was replaced. The cost of the work was HUF 250 million (around € 807,000). Half of the sum was funded by the European Union .

The stadium now offers 10,300 seats, 4,200 of which are covered. The seating is in the club colors red and blue. The grandstand forms a circumferential ring, only interrupted by the new grandstand. The tier in the east has an attached grandstand section that also has a roof. The electronic scoreboard installed in 2003 is located on the north curve. It replaced the score display from 1992. The floodlight system on four masts provides 1,250 lux illuminance .
