The Nyíregyháza Spartacus Football Club is a football club from Nyíregyháza , a city in northeast Hungary with around 115,000 inhabitants. The club emerged in 1959 from the merger of the clubs Spartacus , founded in 1928, and Építők and plays its home games in the Városi Stadium ( German  Municipal Stadium ), which has a capacity of 10,500 spectators. The fans call the club Szpari . The club colors are red and blue.

Nyíregyháza Spartacus rose in 1980 for the first time in the first Hungarian league, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I. , and was able to hold there until 1984. The club was also a member of the top division from 2000 to 2002 and in the 2004/05 season. After the 2006/07 season, Spartacus rose again to the NB I. For the 2014/15 season they made the leap into the Hungarian upper house of football. But they rose because of a license withdrawal after this season in the third division.
