The Kleine Aue , which flows into the Große Aue in Barenburg , is the lower of two tributaries of the same name of this tributary of the Weser . It has a length of 18.2 km and flows exclusively in the district of Diepholz ( Lower Saxony ).

course

The river begins southwest of Scholen as the southern part of that pseudobifurcation in the Scholener Geestmoor , which flows north of the Bassumer Klosterbach towards the Ochtum .

The small floodplain flows in a southerly direction through the joint municipality of Schwaförden , past the west of the town center of Sulingen and takes in the Kuhbach there. It then flows through the municipality of Kirchdorf and flows into the Große Aue in Barenburg , 31.3 km before it flows into the Weser.

Its tributary Kuhbach is 17.36 km long and flows 9.07 km before the confluence of the Kleiner and Großer Aue, so it has a significantly longer flow path of 26.43 km up to there. Its spring also gives off water in the direction of Ochtum.

natural reserve

In order to rewet the “Geestmoor-Klosterbachtal” nature reserve, flow obstacles were introduced in both the Kleine Aue and the Klosterbach, which prevent the ditch in the apex area from falling dry.
