The former Geestmoor-Klosterbachtal nature reserve is located in the middle of the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony . It is an area of ​​around 356  hectares along the Klosterbach between the southern bypass ( B 51 ) from Bassum and Neuenkirchen .

The former nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 209 comprised a section of the partially meandering Klosterbach, several tributaries and “numerous habitats typical of floodplains such as softwood and hardwood floodplain forests, spring areas, still waters as well as moist tall herbaceous meadows and wet grassland . The former nature reserve was part of FFH area 280 "Geestmoor and Klosterbachtal".

By ordinance of August 18, 2009, the area along the Klosterbach was declared a nature reserve on August 27, 2009. On January 3, 2018, it was merged with the adjacent “Schlattbeeke” nature reserve to form the new “ Geestmoor-Klosterbachtal and Schlattbeeke ” nature reserve . The district of Diepholz was responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.

The "Geestmoor" nature reserve (license number: NSG HA 029), dating from 1967, was completely incorporated into the newly designated "Geestmoor-Klosterbachtal" nature reserve and was deleted.
