Gabriele Berger

Gabriele Berger (born July 3, 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian sculptor .

Live and act

Gabriele Berger grew up in Vienna and Linz . From 1974 she studied German at the University of Salzburg, from 1976 sculpture at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Ruedi Arnold and from 1983 at the Hochschule für Gestaltung with Erwin Reiter , where she graduated in 1986 with a diploma.

From 1989 to 1993 she was an assistant at the master class for sculpture. In 1991 she directed the summer academy in Hohenems .

The artist, who has lived and worked in Aigen-Schlägl since 1991 , was accepted as a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien in 1984. Since 1992 she has been a member of the artists' association MAERZ .

She processes and splits granite from her own quarry and thus creates new connections. She created works in the context of exhibitions, for art in public spaces and sculptor symposia and is active in theater, performances and actions at home and abroad.

Awards

  • In 1987 she received the Upper Austrian Talent Promotion Prize for fine arts.

Exhibitions

Since 1923, Berger has presented her works in solo and group exhibitions exclusively in Austria.
