Sepp Auer

Sepp Auer , also Josef Auer , (born June 20, 1939 in Braunau am Inn ) is an Austrian university professor , sculptor ( metal sculptor ) and installation artist .

Live and act

The son of a school director passed his master craftsman's examination as a locksmith in 1961 and then devoted himself to his artistic training. From 1975 to 2004 he taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and from 1994 to 1997 he was interim head of the master class for sculpture there . His students included a. Friedrich Biedermann (1996 to 2009), Heribert Friedl (until 1998) and Judith Wagner (1991 to 1998) Sepp Auer lives and works in Vienna and St. Peter am Hart .

The artist is a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien and the artist association MAERZ . From 1992 to 2001 he was a juror on several occasions for the award of art and culture prizes (1992 to 1995 and from 1999 to 2001 for art in public spaces with the Lower Austrian provincial government and from 1994 to 1996 with the Upper Austrian provincial government. He was with the latter during this period also juror for the culture award of the province of Upper Austria ). In 1996 he worked at the metal symposium in Spital am Pyhrn and from 2001 to 2003 he worked as a curator for art purchases at the Linz municipal authorities . From 2007 to 2010 he worked in the artistic field at the federal real estate company .
