Florian Steininger

Florian Steininger (* 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian art historian , exhibition organizer and museum director .

Live and act

Steininger studied art history from 1993 to 1999 at the University of Vienna under Peter Haiko . From 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the art education team at the Essl Collection and the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien . From 2001 he acted as exhibition curator for the latter .

He is the author of numerous essays, supervises curatorial projects on modern and contemporary art and can refer to numerous publications in art magazines (including Parnass , Falter , Vernissage ) and catalogs . From 1999 to 2003 he wrote art reviews for the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse . He has worked several times as a specialist jury member in awarding art prizes (including the Ö 1 Talent Exchange , Format Jury , Anton Faistauer Prize , Prize for Young Austrian Printmaking, Art Award of the Strabag Art Forum, etc.).

Since July 2016 he has been the artistic director of the Kunsthalle Krems .
