Art collection

During his language stay in Paris in 1957, he was impressed by posters from an Impressionist exhibition and since this experience he went to museums all over the world whenever he had time - in his twenties, Looser completed various language stays and study trips as part of his training, which included him Mexico , Japan , Paris , London and New York and laid the foundation for his passion for collecting. However, most of the first 200 works were still Swiss art. Today Hubert Looser, who resigned as President of Walter Rentsch Holding AG and ELCO Looser Holding AG in 1990/92, after having managed and expanded both companies for decades, is considered an outstanding private collector in Switzerland. His main focus is on works of surrealism , abstract expressionism and minimalism . One of the largest Willem de Kooning collections outside the USA was created as part of the collection. The museum-compatible works of the collection were brought to the Hubert Looser Foundation in 2008, which makes this cultural asset available to the public as a permanent loan at the Kunsthaus Zürich .
