Herbert Brandl

Herbert Brandl (born January 17, 1959 in Graz ) is an Austrian painter . Brandl was one of the new savages .

Life

Herbert Brandl studied from 1978 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (with Herbert Tasquil and Peter Weibel ). Since 2004 he has been a professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy .

From the mid-eighties Herbert Brandl took part in important international exhibitions. These include the Biennale de Paris , 1985, Musée d'Art de la Ville de Paris, 1990, documenta IX , 1992 and Painting on the Move, Kunsthalle Basel , Museum für Gegenwartskunst , 2002. In 2007 he was at the Biennale di Venezia im Austrian pavilion represented.

Herbert Brandl lives in Schwanberg and works in Vienna. He is one of the most important Austrian representatives of Neo-Expressionism .
