The Greith-Haus is a cultural center in the village of St. Ulrich im Greith in the municipality of Sankt Martin im Sulmtal in Styria .

history

The idea for the Kulturhaus in St. Ulrich im Greith, which later became the Greith House , came from the Austrian author Gerhard Roth . With his persuasiveness and with the help of the population, the building designed by the architectural duo Michael Szyszkowitz and Karla Kowalski was opened in May 2000.

architecture

The interior is designed both as an exhibition space and as a stage for theater performances, readings and concerts.

Events

Today the Greith-Haus is run by the St. Ulrich cultural association, which, in addition to regional events, has also brought cultural greats such as Hermann Nitsch , Alfred Hrdlicka , Oswald Oberhuber , Hans Staudacher and Daniel Spoerri to the Kulturhaus. The cultural association puts its musical focus on brass and jazz. For example, Erich Kleinschuster can not only be seen often on stage, but also in the audience every now and then. In the summer months the Greith-Haus offers an annual large exhibition. In the summer of 2007 Gerhard Roth celebrated his 65th birthday with a photo exhibition of pictures from the years he spent in the country between 1976 and 2006 in and with the Greith House.
