Michael Szyszkowitz

Michael Szyszkowitz (born September 26, 1944 in Graz ; † February 26, 2016 in the Maldives ) was an Austrian architect .

Live and act

Michael Szyszkowitz was born in Graz in 1944 as the second son of the Austrian painter Rudolf Szyszkowitz . Szyszkowitz studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology . 1970-1971 he worked on behalf of the Graz architect Domenig & Huth at the Olympic buildings of & Partner Behnisch in Munich . There he met Karla Kowalski and has worked with her since 1973. In 1978 he founded the joint architecture firm Szyszkowitz + Kowalski in Graz with her .

Szyszkowitz was co-founder and later also President of the House of Architecture in Graz and examination commissioner at the Technical Universities of Graz and Stuttgart. In 1998 he was appointed to the chair of the Technical University of Braunschweig as a university professor and has since headed the Institute for Building Theory and Design. From 2003 to 2005 he was Dean of the Department of Architecture.

Michael Szyszkowitz had been a member of the Graz Old Town Expert Commission (ASVK) since 1999.
