Hans Staudacher (born January 14, 1923 in St. Urban am Ossiacher See in Carinthia ) is an Austrian painter . He lives and works in Vienna and Finkenstein am Faaker See in Carinthia.

Life

First he learned to paint as an autodidact . He was fascinated by the painters of the Nötscher circle . He attended Arnold Clementschitsch's painting school in Carinthia . As a result he moved to Vienna , but also lived temporarily in Paris . In the 1950s he became an active member of the Vienna Secession , which dedicated exhibitions to him as one of the most important Austrian exponents of Informel . In 1956 he was selected to represent Austria at the Venice Biennale, in 1975 he was Austria's representative at the XIII. Together with Cornelius Kolig and Gotthard Muhr . São Paulo Biennial .

He is also considered a representative of tachism and action painting .

On the occasion of Hans Staudacher's 90th birthday, the Hilger Gallery in Vienna organized the exhibition 90 Years Against the Current in early 2013 .

Staudacher is one of the most famous living Austrian painters.
