Ulrichsberg jazz studio
The Ulrichsberg Jazz Atelier in Ulrichsberg ( Upper Austria ) is a venue for jazz and new improvisation music , which is run by the sponsoring association of the same name. It is internationally known through the international music festival Ulrichsberger Kaleidophon .
History of the cultural association and event location
The cultural association Jazzatelier Ulrichsberg was founded in 1973 as an "association for the promotion and dissemination of contemporary art". The association first organized concerts in the field of traditional jazz and blues music before expanding its activities to include improvised and contemporary music. In 1986 the association acquired a building (Badergasse 2) in which not only about ten concerts, but also the Ulrichsberger Kaleidophon Festival, founded in 1986, are held every year . Furthermore, since 1991 the theme or person- specific Phonomanie festival , most recently dedicated to the drummer Paul Lovens , has been held there every three years , and films and art are shown.
I.a. joined Art Farmer , Friedrich Gulda , Peter Brötzmann , Henry Threadgill , David Murray , Tim Berne , Anthony Braxton , Walter Malli , Cecil Taylor , Radu Malfatti , John Zorn , AMM , Sun Ra , Herbert Henck , Evan Parker , Gavin in Ulrichsberg since 1973 Bryars , Franz Koglmann , Roscoe Mitchell , George Lewis , Barre Phillips , Misha Mengelberg , Mark Dresser , The Dorf , Klangforum Wien , Ensemble recherche , Christian Fennesz , Werner Dafeldecker , Ken Vandermark , Joëlle Léandre , Clusone 3 and Alvin Lucier . 2009 organized Jazzatelier the Landscape Opera by Peter Ablinger .
In addition to the music program, the cultural association also offers around ten film screenings and two to three exhibitions in the field of visual arts every year.
