Werner Dafeldecker

Werner Dafeldecker (* 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian improvisation musician (guitar, double bass, electronics ) and composer.

Live and act

Dafeldecker studied double bass at the Vienna Conservatory . He is involved in various improvisation, electronic and crossover projects and is a member of the Ton Art group and Burkhard Stangl's Ensemble Maxixe . Together with John Butcher , Burkhard Stangl and the cellist Michael Moser, he forms the Ensemble Polwechsel , which has released four albums since 1994. One of his and Christian Mühlbacher's projects is the shabotinski group . In 1995 he founded the avant-garde label Durian Records . He has also worked with Eugene Chadbourne , Franz Koglmann , Christian Fennesz , Wayne Horvitz , Jim O'Rourke , David Sylvian and the Klangforum Wien . As a composer he worked for the Klangforum Wien , the European Tuba Quartet as well as for his own groups and the theater. Together with Christian Mühlbacher he has developed diphthongs , compositions of a virtual ensemble from pre-recorded recordings by Radu Malfatti , Michael Moser and Burkhard Stangl. He has also created sound installations .

Dafeldecker, who lives in Berlin, has performed at the Witten Days for New Chamber Music , the Salzburg Festival , the Styrian Autumn Graz , the Total Music Meeting and the Berlin Festival as well as at festivals in North America, France and Australia.
