Christof Kurzmann

Christof Kurzmann (* 19th June 1963 in Vienna ) is a from Austria originating Jazz - and improviser . He sings and plays the saxophone and clarinet .

Life

Kurzmann is mainly active in the field of electronic and experimental music and free jazz. He worked with musicians such as John Butcher , Ken Vandermark , Burkhard Stangl , Kai Fagaschinski , Martin Brandlmayr , Clayton Thomas and Leonel Kaplan . The Boiled frogs project was created with the video artist Michaela Grill . At the SWR's New Jazz Meeting he improvised with Steve Lacy and Philip Jeck in Bernhard Lang's project trio × 3 . At the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2004 his electronic composition 4rooms with Andrea Neumann and Tony Buck was performed.

Kurzmann leads several of his own formations, including the orchestra 33 1/3 and The Magic ID. He forms the snow duo with guitarist Burkhard Stangl . He is a member of the bands The Magic ID and Made To Break.

After several years in Berlin and Buenos Aires, Kurzmann settled back in his native Vienna.
