Robert Mittringer (born November 17, 1943 in Asten ; † January 27, 2018 ) was an Austrian painter , sculptor and graphic artist .

Life

Robert Mittringer attended compulsory school in Kleinmünchen ( Linz ). He completed an apprenticeship as a car electrician and later moved to VOEST as a company electrician . Then he trained as a decorator . He was a founding member of the group "Donauhunde", which appeared in 1981-1983 with actions in Linz and Berlin. In 1983 he gave up the craft profession and turned exclusively to art. In 1989 he founded the artist group K5 (with Anatole Ak , Oliver Dorfer , Alexander Netusil , Reinhold Rebhandl ).

In 1997 he received the 1st prize for small sculpture in the Nordico City Museum , Linz and in 1998 the City of Linz Art Prize. In 2001 he was awarded the Upper Austrian State Culture Prize.

Robert Mittringer was a member of the artists' association MAERZ . He lived and worked in Eferding .

Robert Mittringer deals in his artistic work with both sculptural and graphic design. His central question lies in the determination of volume in the area of ​​tension between material effect and surface, as Peter Assmann states. What is always striking is the strict composition of the formal elements and the sensitive arrangement of clusters of rooms.
