Martin Hochleitner

Martin Hochleitner (* 1970 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian art historian and has been director of the Salzburg Museum in Salzburg since 2012 .

Life

Martin Hochleitner completed his studies in classical archeology in 1992 with the title Mag. Phil. from. In 2002 he finished his studies in art history at the University of Salzburg with the Dr. phil. He wrote his dissertation on the subject of "Basics and reception of sculptural manifestations in Upper Austrian art of the 20th century".

From 1993 to 2000 he worked at the Institute for the Promotion of Culture of the State of Upper Austria (head of the funding areas for fine arts, photography, film, new media and architecture) and head of the gallery in the Stifterhaus together with Peter Assmann . In 2000 he took over the management of the Landesgalerie Linz at the Upper Austrian State Museum , which he held until 2012. He has been head of the Salzburg Museum since September 2012 .

Since 1997 he has been teaching art history at the Art University Linz , where he was head of the department of art history and art theory / gender studies between 2008 and 2010. In 2010 he was appointed university professor for art history and art theory with a focus on curatorial practice. Since 2005 he has been teaching at the Institute for Art Studies and Philosophy at the Catholic Theological University in Linz, since 2010 also as an honorary professor for cultural studies. In the 2007/08 academic year he held a visiting professorship for photo theory at the University of Applied Arts Vienna .

Projects

Martin Hochleitner designed and organized a. a. the architecture symposia in the ORF regional studio and the gallery in the Stifterhaus in Linz. Cooperations and a. with Ars electronica , OK Center for Contemporary Art, Linz and the Linz Art University . He is also the curator of countless exhibitions, including a. the annual exhibition at the Salzburger Kunstverein, "directed" by Edgar Honetschläger, "It's quiet outside" by Gabriele Rothemann.
