Oskar Seefeldner
Oskar Seefeldner (born September 2, 1858 in Salzburg ; † July 1, 1938 there ) was an officer in the Imperial and Royal Army , a military historian and a retired colonel. D. from 1919 to 1920 interim director of the Carolino Augusteum Municipal Museum and founder of the Rainer Museum at Hohensalzburg Fortress .
Life
His father was a notary. During his school days, he also attended the chemical technical school at the Polytechnic in Stuttgart for a year . He then embarked on a military career. In 1877 he served as a one-year volunteer in the Salzburg House Regiment 59th Infantry Regiment Archduke Rainer and was made colonel by 1912 (1912 retired). As early as 1890, he drafted a plan for the construction of a Rainer Museum on the Hohensalzburg Fortress , which was implemented in 1924 (now part of the Salzburg Museum as the Salzburg Fortress Museum). He himself was director of the Rainer Museum until 1936. In addition, from 1914 he was also a member of the technical committee and from 1915 a member of the administrative board of the Carolino-Augusteum Municipal Museum, which he also led on an interim basis from 1919 to 1921. In this museum he was the head of the war studies department and compiled a detailed directory of locations in the course of an inventory of military-historical objects.
