Oliver Dorfer

Oliver Dorfer (born October 16, 1963 in Linz ) is an Austrian sociologist , painter, graphic artist and sculptor.

Live and act

Dorfer is a self-taught artist. He lives and works in Linz. His works include drawings, paintings, sculptures and printmaking techniques such as lithography and carborundum printing. In 1989 he received the Talent Promotion Prize of the Province of Upper Austria , in 1990 the 3rd Prize at the Römerquelle Art Competition , the City of Linz Promotion Prize for Fine Arts in 1991 , the Bauholding Promotion Prize for Fine Arts in 1995 and the Prize of the Federal Capital of Vienna in 1999 26th Austrian graphics competition.

Since 1990 he has been a member of the artists' association MAERZ . In 1993 he began working regularly in Montréal , where, among other things, he produced large-format carbon wraparound prints. In 1994 he took part in the Festival International de la Peinture in Cagnes-sur-Mer . In 1997 he completed his sociology studies at the University of Linz .

Dorfer belonged together with Anatole Ak , Robert Mittringer , Alexander Netusil and Reinhold Rebhandl to the artist group K5, which was founded in 1989.

Oliver Dorfer's works are in private and public collections, e. B. the art collection of the province of Upper Austria. In 2013 a work for the Musiktheater Linz was purchased.

Exhibitions, presentations (selection)

Dorfer has presented his works since 1989 in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. He participates in symposia, art fairs and art competitions.
