Artemons / Artemons Contemporary is a gallery with a partially museum character in Upper Austria and looks after Austrian and international art on over 600 square meters.

history

The object erected by Albrecht Dunzendorfer was the largest private art gallery in Upper Austria for about a quarter of a century from the time it was built in the late 1950s to the early 1970s . By combining the house, workshop and art gallery, the largest publicly accessible private museum in Upper Austria was created in 2006.

The Austrian painter Albrecht Dunzendorfer built the Hellmondwarte in his hometown of Hellmonsödt in 1958 and in 1971 with a 200 square meter exhibition hall the largest private art hall in Upper Austria at the time, in order to be able to show his works independently of the institutional art business.

About 25 years after the death Dunzendorfers acquired the Arts Foundation of Upper Austria image of industrialists Horst Rilke from Marchtrenk by his heirs House, workshop and art gallery, combined this in 2006 with a central section and realized under bills of state and EU - LEADER -Fördermitteln at the date of Opening on October 12, 2007, the largest publicly accessible private museum in Upper Austria. Herwig Dunzendorfer was the first director. In the 25 years after the death of his father, he organized several exhibitions with Austrian and international artists in addition to memorial exhibitions on Albrecht Dunzendorfer, some in cooperation with the Linz Art Academy (project 8-giving the master class for sculptors, contemporary Upper Austrian ceramics). International projects were handled with the Paris gallery Du Temple (The Last Supper, The Parisian Baroque Art of the 20th Century).

The collection

The foundation of the Artemons Museum was the foundation's collection of around 2000 works by Upper Austrian artists at the time of opening in 2007, which is still being expanded.
