Lorenz Estermann

Lorenz Estermann (* 1968 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian artist.

life and work

Lorenz Estermann studied from 1988 to 1993 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . There he attended the master class for free graphics and painting with Professor Ernst Caramelle . He completed his studies in 1993 with a diploma. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences .

Estermann deals with drawing, photography and installation / sculpture. He creates three-dimensional architectural models and room installations from simple materials such as cardboard and plywood. He researched the ideas and motifs for his work while traveling through Central and Eastern Europe. The architecture and style of the building there in particular flow into his work. His latest project is the film "Pulp Planet", in which he drives a toy rover equipped with a camera through a world he has created.

Estermann lives and works in Linz and Vienna.

Awards

In 1997, Estermann won first prize at the Bau-Holding-AG art competition and received the talent promotion award from the state of Upper Austria . In 1999 he won a prize at the 26th Innsbruck graphic competition . In 2002 he received a scholarship from the Upper Austrian provincial government for the Egon Schiele Art Centrum Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic . In 2008 he received the Austrian State Scholarship for Fine Arts and was proposed by the German Gallery Association for a “New Talents” sponsorship booth at Art Cologne . In 2010/2011 he received a foreign scholarship from the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture for Rome.
