Ernst Caramelle (2012)

Ernst Caramelle (born March 15, 1952 in Hall in Tirol ) is an Austrian artist . Since 1994 he has been a professor at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe , whose rector he was from 2012 to 2018.

Life

Ernst Caramelle studied from 1970 to 1976 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna a . a. with Oswald Oberhuber . In 1974 he was a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . From 1981 to 1983 he taught at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and from 1986 to 1990 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (until September 30, 1998 University of Applied Arts.) In 1992 he was a participant in Documenta IX . He has been professor of painting at the Karlsruhe Art Academy since 1994, and was appointed Rector in September 2012. In 2001 he received the Tyrolean State Prize for Art . He is represented by Galerie next St. Stephan , Mai 36 Galerie and Peter Freeman Inc. Caramelle has lived in Karlsruhe , Frankfurt am Main and New York City since 1980 .
