Generali Foundation

The Generali Foundation is a non-profit art association established by the Generali insurance group to promote contemporary art . The collection was given to the Museum der Moderne Salzburg on permanent loan in 2014 .

history

After it was founded in 1988, the collection was originally housed in a small exhibition room in downtown Vienna . In 1995 the Generali Foundation moved to premises specially created for it on Wiedner Hauptstrasse . The exhibition in Vienna was discontinued in 2014, the collection has since been presented in the Museum der Moderne Salzburg due to its greater visibility. Its director from 2013 to 2018 was Sabine Breitwieser , who had already headed the Generali Foundation from 1988 to 2007.
