Karl Korab (born April 26, 1937 in Falkenstein in Lower Austria) is an Austrian visual artist .

Life

Karl Korab is the son of a forester. After attending grammar school in Laa an der Thaya and in Horn (Lower Austria) from 1957 to 1964, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Sergius Pauser . From 1960 he organized numerous exhibitions at home and abroad or was involved in them.

Korab is a very versatile artist. His works are created as oil paintings , graphics , collages , screen printing and lithography . Mainly he has still lifes and landscapes, but he also worked as a set designer, for example. His works can be seen on Austrian postage stamps, for example.

He lives with his family in Sonndorf near Maissau . Here and in the vicinity of this transitional landscape from the Waldviertel to the Weinviertel he finds his main field of activity.

Korab has received numerous prizes and honors for his art, including the Culture Prize of the State of Lower Austria (1972), the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria (1997) and the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Lower Austria (2012). His works are in public and private collections at home and abroad.
