Dietmar Brehm

Dietmar Brehm (born March 11, 1947 in Linz ) is an Austrian painter , filmmaker and professor at the Art University Linz .

Life

Brehm began drawing in 1962, followed by graphic prints, etching , lithography , screen printing and inkjet printing in 1968 . From 1967 to 1972 Brehm studied painting at the Linz City Art School. He later taught as a professor at the Art University Linz in the painting and graphics department. Brehm began filming in 1974. By 1989 he had made 74 Super 8 films, and from 1990 to 2009 83 16 mm films. Furthermore, over 25 video works have been created since 2006. Dietmar Brehm's films have been shown over 990 times across Europe since 1977. They have already been seen on TV programs by ORF , 3sat , Kunstkanaal Amsterdam, Arte and other European TV channels. Several of his pictures can be seen today in museums and public buildings in the cities of Linz, Graz, St. Pölten and Vienna. The artist is part of the MAERZ artists' association .

Awards

As a painter and filmmaker, Dietmar Brehm received several prizes in Europe and the USA, including the Talent Promotion Prize of the State of Upper Austria in 1974, the Adolf Schärf Fund Z Prize from Vienna in 1988, the Upper Austrian State Culture Prize for Experimental Film in 1990, the Austrian Award for Film Art (1992), the Award for best Surrealism - Humboldt International Film / Video Festival in Arcata in the USA in 1996, and the Paul Pierre Standifer Award for Cinematography - Cinematexas International Short Film Festival in Austin in the USA in 2003.

Dietmar Brehm has released three DVDs, all of which were produced in Vienna.

In addition to numerous screenings, festival participations, TV presentations and retrospectives at home and abroad, there have been numerous work presentations and TV portraits since 1984.
