Reinhold Rebhandl

Reinhold Rebhandl (born December 20, 1957 in Steyr ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist and university professor .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1976, Rebhandl studied history at the University of Vienna and art education at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . He graduated in 1983 with the teaching examination for these two subjects. From 1977 to 1984 he studied painting with Walter Eckert and Markus Prachensky at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He initially taught at various higher schools and from 2006 received teaching assignments at the Art University Linz and at various universities of education. Rebhandl has been head of the Department of Art Education at the Upper Austria University of Education since 2013 .

The artist is a member of the IG Bildende Kunst and the Künstlerhaus Wien (since 2007). In 1989 he formed the artist group K5 together with Anatole Ak , Oliver Dorfer , Alexander Netusil and Robert Mittringer . He has been a member of the MAERZ artists' association since 1992 and was vice-president there from 1997 to 2003. From 1997 to 2001 he headed the Kunsthalle.tmpSteyr as chairman of the Kunstverein Rohstoff (with W. Ebenhofer and J. Angerbauer).

The artist lives and works in Vienna and Zurich. In 2015, some of his pictures were irretrievably destroyed when a depot in the Schlüsselhof was cleared.
