Ruedi Arnold

Ruedi Arnold (born August 8, 1945 in Lucerne ; † April 2, 2014 in Salzburg ) was a Swiss-Austrian sculptor .

Life

After completing primary school in Lucerne, Ruedi Arnold trained as a sculptor with Anton Egloff at the Lucerne School of Applied Arts. In the years 1966-1967 he completed his military service. He worked as a stonemason and stone sculptor in Zurich. In 1967–1970 he attended the master class for sculpture with Fritz Wotruba at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . From 1970 to 1974 he designed in his studio in Zurich. From 1974 he held a teaching position with Oswald Oberhuber at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

In 1976 he received the professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, now the University of Salzburg Mozarteum . Here he held positions in department management, vice-dean of studies, regional cultural advisory board Salzburg, advisory board for building and art, and as a board member in the Salzburg Art Association . From 1993–1998 he also held teaching positions at the University of Innsbruck . In 2013 he retired.
