The men's hammer throw at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 was held on August 16 and 17, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

World champion was the 1992 Olympic champion Andrei Abduwalijew from Tajikistan . He won before the Belarusian Olympic runner-up in 1992, vice world champion in 1991 and reigning European champion Ihar Astapkovich . Bronze went to the Hungarian Vice European Champion from 1990 Tibor Gécsek .

World champion Andrei Abduwalijew from Tajikistan set a new Asian record in the final with his winning shot of 81.64 m.

qualification

28 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 76.50 m. Six athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the six next-placed athletes to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 74.36 m had to be achieved for participation in the finals.
