The men's 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held on August 21 and 22, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

World champions were the United States in the line-up of Jon Drummond , Andre Cason , Dennis Mitchell (semifinals / finals) and Leroy Burrell, as well as Calvin Smith, who was also used in the preliminary / semifinals .
Second place went to Great Britain with Colin Jackson (final), Tony Jarrett , John Regis (final) and Linford Christie as well as Jason John and Darren Braithwaite, who were also used in the preliminary / semi-finals .
Bronze went to Canada ( Robert Esmie , Glenroy Gilbert , Bruny Surin , Atlee Mahorn ).

The runners only used in the run-up were given corresponding precious metal. The records, however, were only available to the athletes who actually ran.

Record improvement

The USA's world championship relay improved the existing World Cup record in the semi-finals on August 21, with Jon Drummond , Andre Cason , Dennis Mitchell and Leroy Burrell by exactly one tenth of a second to 38.40 s. The line-up was identical to that in the final on the following day.

At the same time, the US team equalized the existing world record with this time.

The preliminary round was held in four runs. The first three relays per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest teams - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals.
