The Gmina Wielichowo is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Grodziski of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Wielichowo ) with about 1750 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the west of the voivodeship, the border with the Lubusz Voivodeship is 15 kilometers away. The voivodeship capital Poznan is about 45 kilometers to the northeast, Leszno (Lissa) about 25 kilometers to the south and the district town of Grodzisk Wielkopolski (Grätz) five kilometers to the north. Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Rakoniewice in the west and north, Kamieniec in the east, Śmigiel in the southeast and Przemęt in the south.
There is no significant running water in the municipal area, it is crossed by three canals that run to the Obra .
The community has an area of almost 107.4 km², 78 percent of which is used for agriculture and 14 percent for forestry.
history
The current municipal area, interrupted by the German occupation in World War II - Wielichowo was named Wiesenstadt in 1943 , and from 1919 to 1975 it belonged to the Kościański Powiat of the Poznan Voivodeship with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War .
The rural community of Wielichowo was dissolved in 1954 and repeatedly converted into various gromadas . It was restored on January 1, 1973. From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to the greatly reduced Poznan Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. Urban and rural municipality Wielichowo were merged in 1990/1991 to form urban and rural municipality. This has belonged to the Greater Poland Voivodeship and Powiat Grodziski since 1999.

traffic
The voivodeship road DW312 leads from Rakoniewice (Rakwitz) in the northwest via Wielichowo to Czacz (Schatz) in the southeast, where it reaches the national road DK5 .
The nearest train station is in the village of Rakoniewice in the neighboring municipality. The route leads from Wolsztyn to the district town of Grodzisk Wielkopolski. The nearest international airport is Poznań-Ławica .
