Robert Kurnicki

Robert Kurnicki (born March 27, 1965 in Zabrze ) is a former German athlete of Polish origin, who was successful in the 110-meter hurdles and sprint .

He started athletics in Poland in 1977. After several national titles in his youth he was in 1986 with the 4-by-100-meter relay team of Górnik Zabrze Polish champion. In 1987 he took part in the 60 meter hurdles at the European Indoor Championships , but did not get beyond the preliminary run. In 1988 he became Polish indoor champion. In 1990 Kurnicki moved to Germany and took on German citizenship.

In Germany he joined the TV Wattenscheid . In the 200-meter run , Kurnicki was German champion in 1992 and 1993 . He also won the Wattenscheider 4 × 100 Meters Relay 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996 the championship . He represented the German colors for the first time in 1993. At the World Championships in Stuttgart he was eliminated in the semifinals, but with the German relay ( Marc Blume , Robert Kurnicki, Michael Huke , Steffen Görmer ) he reached the final and was sixth. At the European Cup in the same year, Kurnicki sprinted to third place. In 1994 he took part in the European Indoor Championships and in 1995 the World Championships . At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he was a substitute runner for the German relay team. In 1997 he ended his sports career.
