The men's long jump at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 was held on August 19 and 20, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .
World champion was the American defending champion, two-time Olympic silver medalist ( 1988 / 1992 ) and world record holder Mike Powell . He won ahead of the Russian Stanislaw Tarassenko . Bronze went to the Ukrainian Vitaly Kyrylenko .

qualification

45 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 8.10 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). So finally 7.91 m had to be achieved for the final.
