The men's marathon at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held on August 14, 1993 in the streets of the German city of Stuttgart .
American Mark Plaatjes became world champion . He won ahead of the Namibian Luketz Swartbooi . Bronze went to Bert van Vlaanderen from the Netherlands .
