Luketz Swartbooi (born February 7, 1966 in South West Africa ) is a former Namibian long-distance runner .
In 1992 he started at the Olympic marathon in Barcelona, but did not reach the goal. He celebrated his greatest success at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 , when he finished second behind Mark Plaatjes (USA) in the marathon . In 1994 he ran his best time of 2:09:08 h at the Boston Marathon . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he came in 48th place.
Swartbooi won the Lucky Star Marathon in Swakopmund six times , the first time in 1992 with the national record of 2:10:01 h, most recently in 2004. At the Soweto Marathon in Johannesburg in 2005 Swartbooi tested positive for prednisolone and prednisone . He was disqualified and warned by the IAAF for violating the doping regulations .
Swartbooi also competed over 5000 meters, in the half marathon and over 3000 meters in the hall.
He trains (as of 2017) the Namibian long-distance youngsters.
