The women's long jump at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held on August 14th and 15th, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

World champion became one of the most successful long jumpers in sport history with the German Heike Drechsler . She was the Olympic champion in 1992 , Olympic silver medalist from 1988 , triple World Cup -Medaillengewinnerin ( 1983 : Gold / 1987 : Bronze / 1991 : silver) and two-time European champion ( 1986 / 1990 ). She had also won numerous medals in the sprint competitions. Second place took the World Championship -Third 1991 Laryssa Bereschna from the Ukraine . Bronze went to Renata Nielsen from Denmark .

qualification

38 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 6.70 m. Three athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the nine athletes placed next to twelve jumpers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 6.48 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
