The men's 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 was held on August 21 and 22, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

World champions were the United States in the line-up of Andrew Valmon , Quincy Watts (final), Harry Reynolds (final) and Michael Johnson, as well as Antonio Pettigrew and Derek Mills, who were also used in the run-up . With 2: 54.29 minutes, the team set a new world record in the final.
Second place went to Kenya ( Kennedy Ochieng , Simon Kemboi , Abednego Matilu , Samson Kitur ).
Bronze went to Germany with Rico Lieder , Karsten Just , Olaf Hense and Thomas Schönlebe .

The runners of the US relay who were only used in the preliminary stages also each received a gold medal. The record, however, was only available to the athletes who actually ran.

Record improvement

The victorious US season improved the existing World Cup record in the final on August 22nd with Andrew Valmon , Quincy Watts , Harry Reynolds and Michael Johnson by exactly three seconds to 2: 54.29 minutes.

With their winning time, the team also set a new world record.

Preliminary round
