Lázaro Martínez Despaigne (born November 11, 1962 in Havana ) is a former Cuban athlete whose special route was the 400-meter run .
Sporting successes
Martínez took part in the 1992 Summer Olympics and won the silver medal with his country's 4 x 400 meter relay . Together with Héctor Herrera , Norberto Téllez and Roberto Hernández , Martínez only had to admit defeat to Michael Johnson 's US team in 2: 59.51 minutes .
At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , Martínez won a bronze medal in the same discipline together with Leandro Peñalver , Agustín Pavó and Roberto Hernández in a national record time of 2: 59.16 minutes behind the teams from the United States and Great Britain.
