Leandro Peñalver (born May 23, 1961 in Matanzas ) is a former Cuban athlete who specialized in the sprint .

Sporting successes

Peñalver celebrated his greatest sporting success at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , when he won the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay together with Agustin Pavó , Lázaro Martínez and Roberto Hernández . In the national record time of 2: 59.16 minutes, the Cuban quartet only had to admit defeat to the US team (2: 57.29 minutes) and the British relay (2: 58.86 minutes).

Peñalver also won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Pan American Games in Havana in 1991 with Félix Stevens , Jorge Aguilera and Joel Lamela .

Peñalver was also successful as an individual starter: at the Pan American Games in 1983 in Caracas, he won the title in the 100-meter run and the silver medal in the 200-meter run . Two years later he won the 200-meter race of the Summer Universiade in Kobe.

With a height of 1.75 m Peñalvers competition weight was 71 kg. His best time in the 100-meter run is 10.06 seconds (1983).
