The shot put women at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics was on 14 and 15 August 1993 in Stuttgart Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion discharged.

The Chinese defending champion, Olympic runner-up in 1992 and winner of the 1986 Asian Games, Huang Zhihong, became world champion . She won ahead of the Russian Olympic champion in 1992 and third in the 1991 World Cup, Svetlana Kriweljowa . Bronze went to the German Olympic runner-up in 1988 , Olympic third from 1992, Vice World Champion from 1987 and European Championship third from 1990 Kathrin Neimke .

qualification

August 14, 1993, 6:00 p.m.

27 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 19.00 m. Nine athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the three next-placed athletes to twelve shot putters (highlighted in light green). So finally 18.54 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
