The women's 400-meter run at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held from August 15 to 17, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .
In this competition, the US runners achieved a double victory. World champion was Jearl Miles , who had won silver with their country's 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1992 Olympic Games and 1991 World Championships . Here in Stuttgart there was relay gold for the world champion on the final day. Silver went to Natasha Kaiser-Brown , who, like Jearl Miles, had won Olympic silver with the US relay in 1992 and won gold with this team on the final day. Third place went to Jamaican Sandie Richards .

The existing world championship record was missed by almost two seconds at these world championships. World champion Jearl Miles alone beat the fifty second mark.
