The shot put women at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics was on August 5, 1995 in Gothenburg Ullevi Stadium discharged.

World champion Astrid Kumbernuss became the German European Champion from 1990 and Vice European Champion from 1994 . She won before the two-time world champion ( 1991 / 1993 ) and Olympic second of 1992 Huang Zhihong from the People's Republic of China , which is also at the Asian Games was very successful ( 1986 : Gold / 1990 : silver). Bronze went to Swetla Mitkowa, third in the Bulgarian European Championship in 1994 .

The existing world championship record was not set and not improved at these world championships. However, the German world champion Astrid Kumbernuss missed the mark by just two centimeters with her victory distance of 21.22 m.

25 participants competed in two groups for the qualification round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 18.80 m. Three athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the nine next-placed athletes to twelve shot putters (highlighted in light green). So finally 18.05 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
