The 5000-meter run for women at the 1995 World Athletics Championships was held on August 10 and 12, 1995 in Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium .

It was won by the Irish vice world champion from 1993 and reigning European champion - each over the previously usual distance of 3000 meters - Sonia O'Sullivan . Second place went to the Portuguese European champion from 1994 over 10,000 meters Fernanda Ribeiro , who had become world champion over 10,000 meters three days earlier. Bronze went to the Moroccan Zahra Ouaziz .
