Florence Barsosio

Florence Barsosio (born August 11, 1976 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 , she finished 13th in the 5000 meter run .

Then she specialized in the marathon . In 2000 she won the Turin Marathon and finished fifth in the New York City Marathon in her personal best of 2:27:00.

The following year she won the Prague Half Marathon and the Paris Marathon and was sixth in the 2001 World Championships marathon in Edmonton. In 2004 she won the Madrid and Florence marathons and came second in the Dublin marathon ; Also second in Paris in 2005 and won the Vienna City Marathon .

Her younger sister Sally is the 1997 10,000 meter world champion. Her uncle Paul Koech was also successful as a long-distance runner.
