Konstantin Krause (born October 8, 1967 in Bad Langensalza ) is a former German long jumper .

In 1985 he became youth champion of the GDR , but the following year he was denied participation in the athletics junior world championships in Athens because of his family's western contacts. In autumn 1989 he fled the GDR across the open Hungarian border; after the fall of the Berlin Wall , his Hungarian girlfriend and later wife Emese followed. After he was recruited by Klaus Steilmann for TV 01 Wattenscheid , he continued his sporting career in addition to training as an industrial clerk.

In 1992 he won the silver medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Genoa . At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 , in Gothenburg in 1995 and in Seville in 1999 , he was eliminated from the qualification.

In 1998 and 1999 he was German champion, 1995 and 2000 runner-up. In the hall he was six times national champion (1995–1997, 1999–2001) and twice runner-up (1992, 1998).

Konstantin Krause started for TV 01 Wattenscheid until 1993, then for TSV Erfurt and from 1997 for LG Ohra-Hörsel. Today he lives with his wife and three children in Erfurt and worked as a branch manager at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , where he was last dismissed due to irreconcilable differences.
