Eronilde de Araújo

Eronilde de Araújo ( Eronilde Nunes de Araújo ; born December 31, 1970 in Bom Jesus da Lapa ) is a former Brazilian hurdler .

In his special discipline, the 400 meter hurdles , he was South American champion five times in a row (from 1991 to 1999).

At the Pan American Games he won gold three times: in Havana in 1991 , in Mar del Plata in 1995 and in Winnipeg in 1999 , where he also won the silver medal with the Brazilian 4 x 400 meter relay .

At the Olympic Games he reached the semifinals in Barcelona in 1992 , fifth in Atlanta in 1996 and eighth in Sydney in 2000 . At the World Athletics Championships he reached the semifinals in Tokyo in 1991 , retired in the preliminary stages in 1993 in Stuttgart , finished eighth in Gothenburg in 1995 and fourth in Seville in 1999 and reached the semifinals in Edmonton in 2001 .
