Andrés Bayron Silva Lemos (born March 27, 1986 in Tacuarembó ) is a Uruguayan athlete .

Depending on the sources, the 1.79 meters or 1.80 meters tall athlete, who competes in the decathlon in particular, as well as over the short and medium-distance running distances, belongs to the Campus de Maldonado club in Maldonado . As early as 2001, he was Uruguayan champion in the 400-meter and 800-meter men's courses and was also a member of that year's championship relay over 4 × 400 meters. In 2002, Silva was Uruguayan youth champion in eight combat and over the 110 meter hurdles. In the same year he also won the eight-fight at the South American Youth Championships. At the South American Games, also held in Brazil in 2002 , he secured bronze with a time of 47.5 seconds on the 400-meter course. In 2004 he won championship honors over the 400 meter distance at the South American U23 championships. He also took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics that year . Two years later he added the gold medals in the 400 meter and 400 meter hurdles to his track record at the South American U23 championships. In 2005 he won the decathlon competition of the Pan American Youth Championships. After 2007 Uruguay at the Pan American Games represented, followed in 2008 his second participation in Olympic Games. At the 2011 South American Athletics Championships , he won the title over the 400 meter hurdles distance. In the same year he reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Daegu and was also part of the Uruguayan team at the Pan American Games 2011 in Guadalajara .

Silva, trained by Andres Barrios , was part of the Uruguayan team for the 2012 Summer Olympics . In London he started over the 400 meter hurdles. There he clearly missed his best time of 49.16 seconds when he finished eighth and last place in his lead with a time of 53.38 seconds. Overall, he only reached 45th place out of 46 runners who had reached the finish and was eliminated in the first round of the competition.

At the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow , Silva was the only Uruguayan starter. He retired on the first lap of the 400-meter hurdles in sixth of his run. As part of his participation in the 2014 South American Games in Santiago de Chile , he won the gold medal over the 400 meter hurdles. The following year he was part of the Uruguayan team at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

Awards

Between 2003 and 2005 he received an award for the best athlete. In 2007, Silva was honored for the third time in a row at the election of the Comité Olímpico Uruguayo (COU) organized as Sportsman of the Year in Uruguay with the Altar Olímpico award. Also in the context of the honors of the best Uruguayan athletes of the period 2009-2010 ("Deportista del Año") he was named on March 28, 2011 by the COU in the Teatro Solís both as best athlete of 2009 and best athlete of 2010 in in the "Athletics" division. He was also awarded the Altar Olímpico for 2009.
