Werner Wölbern

Werner Wölbern (born November 9, 1961 in Zeven ) is a German theater and film actor .

Life

Werner Wölbern grew up in Wohnste, Lower Saxony . He completed his acting training from 1984 to 1988 at the Folkwang University in Essen . This was followed by engagements at theaters in Heilbronn , Esslingen, Cologne and Düsseldorf before moving to the Thalia Theater in Hamburg in 1995, where he a. a. played major roles under the direction of Jürgen Flimm, Sven Eric Bechtolf and Martin Kusej. From 1999 to 2004 he was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Vienna Burgtheater , where he played v. a. continued his artistic collaboration with Martin Kusej, other directors were Luc Bondy and Andrea Breth, with whom he subsequently also worked at the Salzburg Festival. In 2005 he returned to Hamburg and was again a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater, where he worked a. a. with Stephan Kimmig and David Bösch, since 2008 he has been working as a freelancer at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus , the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Schauspielhaus Bochum and most recently at the Residenztheater Munich as "Faust" in the production of Kusej.

In 2006, he staged Katzelmacher of RW Fassbinder . The production of the Schauspiel Essen was awarded the ensemble prize at the 2006 drama school meeting . Further productions: Be nice to Mr. Sloane , Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart, 2007, Shrink (Thomas Huber), premier, 2008, Altonaer Theater.

In film and television he worked in the film drama Herz (director: Horst Szerba), as well as in guest roles a. a. in the television series Tatort , Polizeiruf 110 , Wilsberg , Das Duo, Ein Fall für Zwei, Marie Brand and Schimanski . Since autumn 2009 he played the public prosecutor Warmelskirchen in the TV series Der Dicke with Dieter Pfaff - later: Die Kanzlei. Most recently he was seen in the series “Babylon Berlin” as “Gustav Stresemann”. He also worked on various audio books and radio plays.

In 2000 and 2002 he was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Prize. On May 16, 2009 he was awarded the 3sat Prize - together with Birgit Minichmayr and Nicholas Ofczarek - on the occasion of the Berlin Theatertreffen .

In 2012 he worked as a narrator in the radio play Ulysses based on James Joyce , the longest radio play by Südwestrundfunk with a running time of more than 22 hours and one of the most elaborate radio play productions by ARD .

Since the 2007/2008 winter semester, Werner Wölbern has been professor for “role / scene studies” at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts . He lives with his family in Hamburg.
